FOOD LORE - Alkaline Foods

Sage Bagvat 3000 years ago wrote a book named Ashtang Hrydum which has treatment for more than 7000 ailments! He mentions of this!
Swami Ramdev also emphasis the use of herbal foods to increase acidity in blood!
Acidity is of two types! One is the acidity of the stomach! This causes upset stomach, indigestion, etc.! Using the cold milk helps in this!
The other acidity is of the blood! This causes blockages in the arteries in the heart! This leads to heart problems and even heart attack! The acidity of the blood is the cause of many ailments! This can be reduced by using alkaline foods!
The following are alkaline foods in your kitchen:
1. Bottle gourd or lauki! Using its juice daily helps in removing the blockages!
To this you can add a few basil - tulsi leaves and mint leaves! Both are alkaline in nature.
2. Himalayan pink salt is alkaline! This should be used in cooking instead of iodide sea salt!
3. Black salt or kala namak this is mined! It is rich in Sulphur and very use full in making blood alkaline!
4. Lime or lemon has alkaline tendency!
Squeezing this juice in water, adding black salt and taking on empty stomach is helpful!
5. Some use apple cider vinegar added to water!
6. Coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil and clarified butter or ghee helps in this!
Of these, olive oil has a low smoke point! As a result it should be used raw and in salad dressing! You can use in Chinese cooking as well! Certainly not on Cantonese style where oil is brought to smoke point before cooking! However, in mandarin style of cooking the oil is added only after the dish is prepared, then used as topping!
