RECIPES - Moong Dal Halwa Dessert

Moong Dal Halwa is an exotic sweet dish that compliments the main course meal.
Spices:
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 8 strands saffron
  • 1 cup sugar
  • nuts and seeds
  • 2 tbsp almonds
  • 2 tbsp cashewnuts
  • 2 tbsp chironji
  • 2 tbsp pistachio
  • 2 tbsp watermelon seeds
Dairy*:
  • 1 cup ghee
Liquids:
  • 3 1/2 cups water
Other:
  • 1 cup yellow moong dal (split without skin)
  • 2 tablespoons sooji (rava or semolina - cream of wheat, coarse)

    * I could have simply used the words ghee or clarified butter instead 'dairy'! I used this word ‘dairy’ purposely! Remember, ghee is a dairy product - naturally hydrogenated! Naturally hydrogenated fat is much healthier than artificially hydrogenated fats! Artificially hydrogenated fats are injurious to human health! Therefore, I used the word ‘Dairy’.
